The Calgary Chapter holds Spring and Fall Gatherings that are open to everyone interested in the Camino de Santiago and pilgrimage. Our program can take on a variety of topics and there is ample opportunity to meet up and chat with pilgrims who have been on the Camino and learn of their experiences. Join our email list or follow us on Facebook to receive information on our gatherings.
Our Spring Gathering for 2019 is April 27. Mary Wallis will present “A Mindful Camino: Creating Clarity and Insight through the Work of the Body”
Walking the Camino is good for the body and good for the spirit. Practiced with attention, our steps become a way to feel the body in a new way. Then we can reconnect with the material world with simplicity and intelligence, and begin to see ourselves and our relationships in a new light. In a 1 ½ hour interactive session, with some walking, some talking and some listening, and a few slides, Mary Wallis will offer two contemplative ways of walking the Camino.
Mary Wallis is a long-time student of mindfulness meditation and has walked and bicycled several routes of the Camino many times since 1997. Mary is the author of Among the Pilgrims: Journeys to Santiago de Compostela.
